The story
This is the shirt of Japan's second World Cup abroad, Germany 2006, and of a golden generation that could not quite deliver. Zico's side, built around Hidetoshi Nakata, Shunsuke Nakamura and Naohiro Takahara, went out in the group stage: a heartbreaking late collapse against Australia (1-3), a goalless draw with Croatia in which Kawaguchi saved a penalty, and a 1-4 defeat to Brazil that ended it. It was Nakata's final tournament; he retired weeks later at 29. Deep blue with pale wave graphics sweeping up the sides, it is a bittersweet classic, and originals are getting hard to find.
